The American Society of Pediatric Nephrology (ASPN) invites applications for the John E. Lewy Foundation Advocacy Scholars Program. This prestigious program aims to develop the next generation of leaders in public policy and advocacy for children with kidney disease.
Eligibility:
- ASPN members in good standing with a demonstrated interest in advocacy and public policy.
- Priority is given to applicants within 10 years of fellowship completion.
- Non-US residents are welcome to apply but should note the program’s focus on the US healthcare system.
Program Details:
- Start Date: July 1, 2025 | End Date: June 30, 2027
- Attend two national conferences, including:
- AAP Legislative Conference (April 2027) for hands-on legislative experience.
- ASPN/ASN Kidney Community Capitol Hill Day (Fall 2025 & 2026).
- Participate in ASPN’s Public Policy Committee and NIH visits.
- Engage in a mentored experience with ASPN’s Washington representative and senior society leaders.
- Complete curricular activities, quarterly calls, and assignments.
How to Apply:
Submit the following by April 15, 2025:
- Application form
- 2-page personal statement addressing your interest in advocacy, previous experiences, and goals for participation.
- CV
- Letter of support from your Division Chief or Fellowship Director, including institutional commitment to financial and time support.
- Commitment from the Scholar’s home institution to provide financial support for the applicant’s participation in the program, in the amount of $1500.00 each year for two years.
Selection Process:
Shortlisted candidates will participate in a brief phone interview.
