Current institution and role, previous training
Division Chief and Fellowship Program Director at Yale University School of Medicine. Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at Yale, Pediatrics residency at Georgetown University Hospital, medical school at Boston University
Clinical and research interests
I run a basic science lab focused on vascular inflammation and endothelial cell-specific steroid microenvironments. We are also examining steroid receptor-mediated modulation of Wnt signaling in the context of cardiovascular disease, fibrotic kidney disease and cardiorenal diseases. Clinically, this translates to an interest in hypertension physiology and glomerular disease though I see all types of nephrology conditions.
Biggest accomplishment(s) in the past year
I’m proud to have been selected as the Fulbright-Saastamoinen Foundation Distinguished Chair in Health Sciences which enabled me and my family to travel to Finland in summer 2023 and again this past summer to establish a collaboration with researchers at the University of Eastern Finland looking at longitudinal pediatric blood pressure trajectories in a cohort of Finnish children.
What you love about your job
No two days are the same! I love the flexibility of spending time in the lab investigating basic mechanisms of disease, maintaining my clinical practice and educating the next generation of pediatric nephrologists.
Fun fact about yourself
I can recite all 50 states in alphabetical order (the result of a 5th grade chorus song)—which comes in handy in trivia questions.
Social media handle- optional
I don’t use it!
