Dear ASPN Community,
As we say goodbye to summer and welcome the autumn season, we enter a time of transition and change. You may have seen a recent announcement from the ASPN Program Committee seeking abstract submissions for the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology’s First Annual Independent Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 15-17, 2027. This meeting marks a new chapter for ASPN and reflects our commitment to advancing pediatric nephrology through innovation, collaboration, education, and mentorship.
As our community continues to evolve, this conference will provide a dedicated forum for bringing together clinicians, researchers, educators, trainees, advanced practice providers, and industry partners who share a passion for improving the lives of children with kidney disease. The program committee has been working diligently to develop a dynamic and engaging program designed to meet the needs of attendees at every career stage. With our new independent model, we can provide attendees with more robust programming covering a wider range of topics and broaden opportunities for more speakers and presenters to highlight their work.
Participants can look forward to:
- State-of-the-art lectures, scholarly symposia, interactive workshops, networking sessions, pro/con debates, preconference courses, and industry-sponsored symposia
- Cutting-edge research presentations through oral abstract sessions, Urine the Know sessions, and poster presentations
- Collaborative programming with our valued partners from IPHA, NKC, and the APP community
We also remain committed to supporting our trainees, so please encourage your trainees to come and submit research abstracts and clinical cases! Trainee-focused programming will include the Medical Student and Resident Breakfast, Speed Mentoring for Fellows, and a JEDI charity-focused event. Trainees are encouraged to attend committee meetings and networking events. A call for Trainee Travel Grant applications will be coming soon. These grants will be available to cover registration and partial travel for residents and other students. Fellows who are first authors on accepted abstracts will receive complimentary registration for the meeting. We will also offer a new best trainee (pre-fellowship) research award!
Beyond the outstanding scientific and educational content, this meeting offers an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, establish new collaborations, and shape the future of pediatric nephrology together. Whether you are a longtime ASPN member or attending for the first time, your participation will help make this inaugural meeting a truly memorable and impactful event.
