Help ASPN Advocate for the Living Donor Protection Act

The Living Donor Protection Act (LDPA) has been reintroduced in the House and Senate. It is critical for ASPN members to reach out to your congressional delegation to share how important the LDPA is to your patients and their donors and ask that they cosponsor the legislation. The LDPA (H.R.4583) was introduced in the house by Reps. Don Bacon (R-NE) and Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and ensures that life, disability, or long-term care insurance cannot discriminate against living organ donors. The companion bill (H.R. 4582) also introduced by Reps. Bacon and Nadler ensures that donors are eligible for unpaid time off from work through the Family and Medical Leave act for their donation and recovery period. In the Senate the LDPA (S.1552) was introduced by Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and includes the provisions of both the House bills.

Please use the action alert, found here, to send a message to your members of congress asking them to cosponsor the LDPA. Please email Kelsi Putnam at kputnam@dc-crd.com if you need the name and email address of the health staffers in the offices of your Senators and Representative.
