The goal of the meeting is to catalyze transformative progress in prenatal care by identifying critical research gaps in screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Through interdisciplinary dialogue and expert input, the meeting aims to advance innovation, strengthen patient-centered approaches, and improve outcomes for pregnant individuals and their fetuses, ultimately moving the field of fetal medicine forward.
The meeting will feature four sessions spanning the continuum of fetal care, with presentations by leading experts in the field. Each session will be chaired by Dr. William H. Peranteau, Dr. Michael Talkowski, Dr. Ramesh Papanna, and Dr. Meredith Atkinson, who will guide discussions across key scientific and clinical domains.
Discussions will address emerging cell and molecular therapies for fetal genetic diseases; advances in prenatal screening and diagnostic technologies; current and evolving fetal interventions for structural birth defects; and clinical decision-making and outcomes across prenatal and postnatal care.
This meeting is a collaborative effort among the NICHD branches of Pregnancy and Perinatology, Obstetric and Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and Developmental Biology and Congenital Anomalies.
