Dear ASPN Members,
We are writing to share an important update regarding the future of the ASPN Annual Meeting. Beginning in 2027, ASPN will host its inaugural independent Annual Meeting, separate from PAS. We are excited to announce that the 2027 ASPN Annual Meeting will take place at the InterContinental by IHG in New Orleans, Louisiana April 14-17, 2027.
This decision follows extensive consideration by ASPN leadership and was strongly informed by member feedback collected through our Annual Meeting Survey and strategic planning process.
Why pilot an independent ASPN meeting?
- Greater programming flexibility. An independent meeting allows ASPN full control over scientific content, session length, scheduling, and abstract timelines. This flexibility enables tailored tracks for physicians and trainees, and supports deeper focus on pediatric nephrology research, advocacy, and career development—areas our members consistently identify as top priorities.
- More time together as a community. Survey data show that networking and collaboration with other pediatric nephrologists are among the most valued aspects of an ASPN meeting. A standalone format allows more dedicated time for mentorship, trainee engagement, committee work, and community-building.
- Expanded sponsorship opportunities. Hosting our own meeting creates greater visibility and access for industry partners, supporting increased corporate sponsorship opportunities and strengthening ASPN’s long-term financial sustainability.
We recognize that PAS has long provided meaningful opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement, and this decision was made thoughtfully, balancing those benefits with clear member input and ASPN’s evolving strategic priorities. Importantly, ASPN will continue to seek collaboration with peer organizations and explore opportunities for joint programming where it adds value.
