SUMMARY:ASN AKI Bench to Bedside Conference\, May 4th-7th 2025\, Lansdowne Resort\, Virginia
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the 3rd AKI bench to bedside conference which is being organized by the ASN for the first time this year. While the program will cover the gamut of clinical and basic research topics in AKI\, the focus this year will be on the applications of artificial intelligence to clinical and basic research in AKI. Please think about asking faculty and trainees at your institutions working on clinical and basic AKI problems to think about applying. We will have 25 funded travel awards (free registration and a $1K stipend) for all trainees (which includes ESI junior faculty) who submit an abstract and application. In addition\, it will be a great environment for those of us working in the AKI space to meet\, some for the first time\, network\, plan and commiserate! The website link below includes more information about the program\, venue\, registration\, and travel award applications. \nAmerican Society of Nephrology | Acute Kidney Injury: From Bench to Bedside – Home

SUMMARY:ASPN Pathology Webinar - A 13-year-old girl with edema\, hypertension\, and proteinuria
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: \n\nSophia Giang\, Stanford\nSamantha Lou Krieger\, Stanford\n\nThis webinar\, part of the ASPN Bi-Monthly Pathology Series\, presented a compelling case of a 13-year-old girl with edema\, hypertension\, and significant renal dysfunction. Dr. Samantha Krieger from Stanford detailed the patient’s clinical course\, highlighting her progression to dialysis and subsequent renal biopsy\, which revealed crescentic glomerulonephritis with features of both anti-GBM disease and ANCA-associated vasculitis—a rare “double-positive” diagnosis. Dr. Patrick Walker provided an in-depth pathology review of the biopsy findings\, while Dr. Sophia Giang gave an extensive and informative overview of the anti-GBM disease spectrum\, its clinical presentations\, diagnosis\, and evolving management strategies. The session concluded with a rich discussion about treatment decisions and long-term planning\, emphasizing the challenges in managing complex and overlapping renal pathologies in pediatric patients. \nYour browser does not support HTML5 video.
