The Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a pediatric nephrologist to join our growing and diverse academic faculty of 9 members. This position is meant primarily for a research-intensive recruit, either in basic or clinical science research, at any experience level, with commensurate protected time and research resources.

The division has a thriving research program with NIH-funded principal investigators in the area of mineral bone disorders in chronic kidney disease, post-transplant complications and genetic regulation of vascular matrix. The division also has NIH-supported site investigators in the areas of medication adherence improvement, chronic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis, plus other research projects in the areas of CRRT and photopheresis. The adjacent adult nephrology division has a long-standing basic science interest in renal development. Washington University is consistently ranked in the top 5 for NIH funding.

The Pediatric Nephrology division has consistently been listed in the US News and World Report top Pediatric Nephrology programs, #18 this year. Faculty members practice at the attached St Louis Children’s Hospital (ranked in all 10 specialties in 2017 US News and World Report), which is a part of the very large Barnes-Jewish Care health care system. The joint Wash U Medical Center campus is located next to the 1371 acre Forest Park, one of the largest public parks in the country.

The greater St Louis area offers many hidden gems, including world class (and free) museums, numerous theaters, professional sports teams, and plentiful outdoor activities. St Louis has its own hallmark cuisine. Cost of living is very affordable.
