Applications are invited for 2 Paediatric Nephrologists at Starship Children’s Hospital. We would be interested to hear from applicants who wish to work either part-time or full-time, the minimum FTE for each position being 0.5 (20 hours per week). The fixed term locum position is available immediately and we have a preference to recruit quickly. If you are in a senior training position in Paediatric Nephrology and require additional clinical experience before taking up a Consultant role then we would also be interested in hearing from you.

Successful applicants will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team consisting of 3.6 full-time equivalent consultants, nurse specialists and other allied health professionals providing a high quality clinical service. You will participate in all aspects of clinical service, teaching, and quality assurance activities. Opportunities for clinical research include collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Auckland and our Australian paediatric nephrology colleagues.

Vocational training in paediatric nephrology is required and must be at least equivalent to nephrology training as prescribed by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The successful applicant must be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. The applicant must have significant clinical experience in the provision of all modalities of renal replacement therapy and all aspects of renal transplantation.

ABOUT: Starship Children’s Hospital is the only comprehensive children’s hospital in New Zealand. The Department of Nephrology offers comprehensive renal care to children throughout New Zealand and is the only referral centre for dialysis, transplantation and paediatric nephrology. The service has an extensive outreach support programme to all children with kidney disease. The institution is situated on the same site as the adult hospital, enabling close relationships with the adult renal and transplant services.
